While alleviating poverty is a longtime philanthropic concern, advocacy to reduce it has historically received less attention from philanthropists. Inside Philanthropy’s State of American Philanthropy brief on Giving for Economic Justice Policy and Advocacy digests grant data, interviews with experts, and research to provide an overview of this giving space. This brief addresses how philanthropy and government efforts intersect in addressing the economic inequalities of poverty reduction in this funding space, as well as how funders are attempting to address a variety of issues through philanthropic support. Subscribers can learn about: key funders that are supporting policy advocacy, research, and organizing for economic justice; notable grantees; and funders’ various areas of focus.

Explore the foundations, major donors, and corporations that are making nonprofit grants for advocacy and policy that reduce poverty and inequality.
